The Bryn Mawr Block Party was a big success and it was an overall great day! I’m looking forward to more opportunities to set up this tent and share my work, and looking forward to next year. All my gratitude to everyone who came out, showed support, signed up for my email list or bought a painting. <3
Bryn Mawr Block Party
The Hollywood/North Park Community Association is again hosting the Bryn Mawr Block Party September 15th, 2024. I love my neighborhood and I’m happy to represent creativity here. You’ll find me in my booth, sponsored by North Park Art.
See You Soon!
“
This is a full street festival from Kimball to Kedzie, but we call it a “Block Party” because it conveys the casual, welcoming vibe of a neighborhood get-together where old and new friends bring a lawn chair and come and go as they please throughout the day.”
Make sure to give a follow on Instagram @rachelrakelarts. Primarily working on commissions and weird little experimental projects through 2024.

Bokeh (pronounced bo-kay) is an award-winning cocktail bar in the Albany Park neighborhood, a block north of the Kedzie brown line station. Specializing in seasonal cocktails created with artistry and flair, owner Richard Weber (not the surgical chief from Grey’s Anatomy) created this dreamy space in homage to his lifelong love of photography. Come by after work for libations—spirits, craft beers or a mocktail, and enjoy the selection of small plates and snacks from the kitchen. Rachel’s work will be on display February through through May, 2024.
LGBTQIA-friendly, bring pizazz.
Thank you to everyone who came out last night to support the show. There is some incredible talent in the community and I’m grateful for the opportunity to share and have my paintings featured in this group show.
Come join us this Friday to celebrate the opening of the group exhibition

Fall/Winter 2023/2024…
Supporting the arts is shopping small, it’s a meaningful way to connect with a person who has given in to the creative life and all that this entails, and to connect in new ways with your surroundings, with color and wonder.
If you’re looking for a painting to fill a large space, a little something small, or pre-framed, a print, a custom drawing or a portrait of your family or pet, please contact, there’s still time before the holidays for custom orders.
The process of learning and growing throughout a creative life honors time for cyclical resets; rest, boredom, a blast of creative output, and so on. See Rakel’s linktree for more information about current pursuits outside of painting.

“No Homeland”
No Homeland is a collection of six paintings which are reflections on psychic phenomenon at the transitional times just before birth and at the time of natural death. The liminal space between worlds. They are recollections of sitting bedside as humans arrive on the scene, or are preparing for their departure. In countless recollected depictions of near-death experiences there are repeated themes of bizarre sights and sounds and sensory experiences, of conversations with beings which are logically inexplicable. The brain is a tricky place and the rational human mind is happy to explain it all away with hypoxia and our natural self-protective subconscious, functioning as it should to shield us from bodily trauma and pain. But scientific inquiry can only measure what is seen, and perhaps where we come from and where we return is just out of our conscious reach, for now.
