Rachel Rakel is a creative with a wide range. She studied Fine Art and Global Studies at North Park University in Chicago where she now lives and works. For 17 years she has worked as a doula, in women’s health and community care initiatives.
As a painter Rachel explores the fullness of emotional self-expression through color, movement and mood. Her art is at once playful and enlivening and also a tool for her own introspection. In much of her abstract work, vibrancy and contrasting colors illustrate a mystical conversation with nature which she paints with deep affection.
Through art Rachel explores the concepts of reality, tenderness, acceptance and belonging. She approaches life with humor and intentionally challenges life’s cruelties with optimism and radical softness. Themes of the ethereal, the subtle body, the seen and unseen, the heavens and the earth are woven throughout her work.
She is presently creating a series of large illustrative and floral abstract paintings, and is available for commissions.
