Astrology has been around for a long time, but it’s recently become common in every day speech for people to mention the planets, retrogrades, the zodiac season or mention their “big 3.”

The way that Rachel uses astrology is by using your natal chart, which is a snapshot of the location of the heavens directly above at the time of your birth. By talking through and interpreting what is represented by the planets, depending on where they were stationed in different symbolic locations in the sky, you can consider the influence of these energies on different arenas of your life. The relationships of the planets to one another is meaningful as well. By appreciating how the current location of planets look in relation to your birth chart, you can dig deeper and consider how these things are playing out in the present moment. This is excellent for guided self-inquiry.

Astrology is a study. RR came to the work as a skeptic, and a realist. With curiosity and hesitation she found herself able to use astrology and tarot as tools for self-understanding. It was also a new way for her to give honor and respect to other people as a living, breathing universe unto themselves. This work brings a creative richness to deepen her appreciation of her relationships with family, friends, children and difficult choices.

The marriage of an ongoing study of astrology, to the intuitive nature of reading tarot cards is a match made in the heavens. Observing symbolism and analytically probing, and digging deeper by asking direct questions with an encouraging and helpful coach can assist you when questions are weighing heavy or when you are in any transitional season of your life.

FAQs

What does a session look like?

An appointment is booked and you will receive a text right before your video call (or audio if you prefer). Take some time to consider what arenas of life you need clarity, peace of mind, or fresh perspective on your path forward.

If you are meeting for an astrology-inspired read, you will need your precise birth time, date, and location which will be used to generate a natal chart, featuring luminaries, planets and some comets on the day you were born. Rachel uses a whole-sign chart featuring transits and progressions to refer back to during your tarot read. What this means is that features of your chart explaining your general identity and astrological influences which have shaped your life process will be referenced as a guide to the path forward in your life. Significant planetary shifts will be noted and fleshed-out.

Take some time to introduce yourself and anything you want to bring up before the read begins. This is all done at your discretion and is confidential. Cards are laid out in a traditional Celtic Cross formation and more are added at moments of intuitive impulse. Each placement of the card holds meaning as does each card and the relationships between the cards. This is very similar to the way a natal chart is read, so connections are made between the two if that is included in your read choice.

At any point you want to pause to ask questions, reflect, or dig deeper, the time is yours and you are welcome to use it as you wish. Similar to a counselling session, you are being witnessed as much as being presented with ideas and questions to further you on in your own self-investigation.

A photo of the card configuration is sent upon the end of your session and you are encouraged to spend time afterward for journaling and reflecting on any notes taken during your session.

When is a tarot read most useful?

A tarot read is an excellent option at the precipice of significant change in your life. During transitions and when your thoughts on career, family, romantic interests and issues are hazy at best, or when presented with situations which are outside of your scope of reference or control. While Rachel is a proponent of encouraging therapy as a primary form of ongoing self-care, using tarot and astrology as a periodic tool for your self-betterment can supplement that work.

How often do people typically use this service?

This varies from person to person. Creating ritual around seasonal shifts, lunar or menstrual cycles, planetary or solar returns (birthdays) are some suggested options. “As-needed” will change a lot depending on the season of your life. Some years ask and some years answer! If you are feeling curious and called to it, please contact for a consultation. The astrological new year is a GREAT time to start!

I can’t afford a read, are there shorter reads or is a sliding scale offered?

For those who value this work and are on a budget, your inquiry is honored and valued. Contact for a pdf outline of all offerings. This includes discounted seasonal reads, monthly 3-card pulls, discounted packages and creative trades. Also every December there is a New Year promotion.
